Born in Fresno, California, Matt has spent 18 years living abroad including Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico.
Matt was born a Mormon, serving as a missionary in Brazil. He has since passed through Christianity and Atheism. Although he finds a correspondence between some religious attempts and what he calls a "self-behaviorism", he is best described as a "cultural atheist" with an expedient interest in working out a life strategy.
